Government Grants & Funding for Canadian Business

Find the funding programmes you actually qualify for, then build the application and business plan they ask for. Eligibility screening first — no wasted applications.

What Funding & Grants covers

Common questions

How do I know if I qualify for anything?

That is the first thing we check, and it takes a short conversation. Eligibility usually turns on sector, size, how long you have been operating, revenue, location and whether you employ anyone. Most businesses fit a handful of programmes, not hundreds.

Are these grants, or loans?

Both exist. Non-repayable grants are the most sought-after and the hardest to get. Government-backed loans are far more accessible and often the practical answer. There are also tax credits claimed after the fact, which many businesses overlook entirely.

Do I need a business plan?

For almost every route, yes — and each wants it in a particular shape. Lenders want to see repayment capacity; grant programmes want outcomes and fit with their mandate. We write to whichever is reading it.

What if the screening shows we do not qualify for anything?

Then we tell you, along with what would need to change — often it is time in operation or having filed a year of financials. That is a more useful answer than an application that was never going to succeed.

What happens after the money arrives?

Most funding carries reporting obligations, and missing them can affect future applications. We can set the reporting up or run it, so the next application is not undermined by the last one.
